Medical Expenses for Pam Kaye

On October 1 our mom, Pamela Kaye, was rushed to the hospital after two days of not feeling well, blurred vision, and breathing difficulties. She required immediate ventilation, and treatment for high blood acidity. After being transferred to Community Medical she received dialysis and it was confirmed that she suffered from methanol toxicity. The dialysis removed the toxin, however an MRI showed extensive brain damage. This left her in a coma for 8 days. While she is now conscious and we are seeing improvements, she is still requiring 24/7 care.
We are hoping to get her into an inpatient rehab facility where she can do extensive speech, occupational, and physical therapy. Aggressive therapy is her best chance at regaining function and hopefully some independence. However this rehab is about $3000 per day. Only time will tell to what extent she will recover. All donated funds will go towards the payment of mom's medical expenses.
The methanol toxicity most likely came from home distilled spirits that didn't have the methanol removed prior to consumption. A very small amount of methanol (about 1/2 a shot) can be life threatening. We urge all of you to use great caution with home distilled spirits, we would hate for others to suffer through what we have recently faced.
Anyone that knows my mom knows how resilient and strong she is! She has already exceeded her doctors expectations and we know she can continue to beat the odds.
