<div>A few days ago, my father had a serious accident while working on a small construction project at our home in Guatemala. He fell from a scaffolding and suffered a severe open fracture in his left arm. The worker who was helping him also fell and broke both of his legs.

<div>My father is currently stable and waiting for surgery to reconstruct his arm. The hospital requested an initial payment of Q5,000 (around $650 USD), and the total cost for surgery, hospitalization, and recovery could reach between Q40,000 and Q50,000 ($5,000–$6,000 USD).

<div>I’m currently in the United States while my family is in Guatemala, and being far away during this time has been very hard. My father is a humble, hardworking man, and a faithful member of our church. He has always done everything he can to take care of our family and to help others when they were in need.
