Medical expenses for Janis Mulzer

A beloved friend of the community, Janis Mulzer, was diagnosed just before Christmas with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Janis is a sweet, kind, thoughtful and selfless person. She has been a bus driver for the Stephenson School District for over 25 years. She also drives for and delivers Meals on Wheels for senior citizens every week.
Janis is single, and up until a year ago, she lived with and cared for her mother, who had several kinds of cancer herself. Sadly, her mother passed away in December 2015. Putting her mother and friend to rest was a difficult time for Janis, but she was able to make it through with the love and support of family and friends.
Janis has been through numerous tests, and has been referred to a specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She has her first appointment on January 16th. She will need multiple surgeries and will need to travel to Minnesota many times.
Janis does have some insurance through the Stephenson Schools (with a high deductible) and she does not have short term disability. She may be eligible for long term disability, but that is months down the road.
She is scared to death, as you can imagine, and is worried about her finances. That is the last thing that she needs to be worried about. Janis is OK with a benefit being held for her. The benefit will be on Saturday, March 17th, 2018 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm(ish) at Belgiumtown Bar in Daggett, MI.
If you can help in anyway, it would be greatly appreciated. Please try to find it in your heart to give. I assure you, it will be worth it.
We will also be excepting bucket raffle items and baskets to be raffled off at the benefit. If you are willing to make up a basket or donate an item, please contact me.
