<div>UPDATE 04-28-2024: Well Hope was transferred to Valkey West in Eugebe to continue her recovery and is now able to move her right leg!!!!! All by herself. She is struggling with verbal communication but can write more than speak. As you can see, her right arm is not in good shape at all. Sonia, her daughter, is trying to get her transferred to a place in Roseburg so it’s easier to visit regularly! However, Hope is in need of a good quality wheelchair as she is able to sit up for short periods of time and has even worked on a puzzle a little bit while feeding herself McDonald’s French fries!!!!!! Please share and abd share as much as possible!!!! Any extra money is greatly appreciated. Some may know that Hope had a lot of side gigs pet sitting to make ends meet and without that additional income Sonia is struggling to stay on top of her parents’ finances. <div>UPDATE 01-31-2024: Hope was transferred to Vibra in Portland last Friday. This is a facility that works with patients who need very intense, individualized work with physical, occupational abd speech therapies and in her particular reason for being transferred here is that this is the only facility who works with tracheotomy patients and ventilator weaning. Today Hope was able to use her tracheotomy to breathe on her own for a hour. This is considered a success to Step 1, only 15 more steps to go! Her daughters are taking turns spending time with her, along with her husband, and are very appreciative if the many donations made so far as now they are having to drive further away to be with her. I do not know if there is a facility nearby for lodging for them as there was in Eugene at Riverbend. Again, thank you everyone for the prayers, good thoughts and love you have shared with this family!

<div>Missing our favorite and only pet sitter tonight as I sit here planning a trip for next week. We met Hope many, many years ago and when we found that we both had pugs, she became our pug sitter. Auntie Hope who possesses a fun and loving attitude would come up to our house twice a day, most often in the pug leggings I got her as a joke, to take care of Frank and Gus, and a large menagerie of cats, and this last year, a lost homing pigeon we have finally named Karen. Karen is very judgmental and does not like me and goes out of her way to land on my car when she is out of her pen! Hope is such a kind, gentle soul and we are just asking for people to keep up on the prayers and love….she is strong and it’s not just us humans who are rooting for her. She is auntie to many, many households of pets in addition to her own, including several with debilitating diseases.

<div>SUCCESSFUL SURGERIES TODAY, January 22, 2024: Hope who is our animal loving friend who is employed part-time, along with her daughter Sonia, at the Coquille Animal Hospital owned and operated by the phenomenal Dr. Ed O’Donnell. Today Hope had a tracheotomy performed to ease the discomfort of having tubes down her throat along with the placement of a PEG, which is a stomach tube for nutrients that goes directly into her stomach instead of down her throat. These are baby steps and at the time she is ready for transfer to a rehabilitation center, it will be to Portland, Oregon as this is the only facility that works with tracheotomy patients. The family can’t begin to tell you all how much your love and prayers has comforted them but the financial assistance is truly appreciated. Making many trips back and forth to always keep a family member with her is so important and costly. The family does not look forward to making even longer trips but they are going to do everything it takes for Hope to recover and get back home..in her own bed, with her dogs and husband. Thank you once again for loving Hope❤️

<div>Updates: Hope has taken two steps forward and one back and last week she took three back when she suffered a second stroke. As of today she is progressing and remained awake multiple times for several hours today. She is able to move both eyes and quite a bit of her left side although she is registering pain and discomfort with her right side. Currently she is breathing on her own and still has a feeding tube. Doctors are concerned that if they take out the breathing tube she will not be able to cough or clear any foreign substances, but in order to ease her breathing and to see how well she can talk, (she was speaking quite well before second stroke) the plan is to put in a tracheotomy on Monday. She will also get a port for the feeding tube to get everything out of her throat. Once Hope is stable enough for rehabilitation, the only place that can take on patients with a tracheotomy is in Portland, so her family will incur a lot more expenses to travel back and forth in addition to missing work themselves. Hope Grundy’s family is so grateful for the calls, texts, prayers and financial assistance. Hope has always helped anyone who needs it to the point of spending every penny she has to help someone or an animal in need without thinking of herself. It’s our turn to help her….thank you for any assistance that you may be able to provide or at least….please share her story!

<div>Hi, my name is Breena and Hope Grundy is a great friend as well as our amazing pug/animal sitter. She is an awesome lady who worked at Farr’s in Coquille for years and has always been a great source of advice and information to so many. She has a never ending love of animals…especially those with special needs. And now she needs our prayers and financial assistance. Yesterday, 12-29-2023, she suffered a stroke and while en route to Riverbend Hospital in Eugene she suffered a second brain bleed. She is in ICU and able to say just a few words this morning and is able to move the right side of her body a little so that is a good sign. Her family asking for assistance with lodging, meals, and medical bills…any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
