Medical expenses for Carson
Donation protected
We are setting up this GoFundMe account to help alleviate some of the financial burden from Carson's brain surgery so that Bethany and Derek can focus on being with their two baby boys during this difficult time. All donations are very much appreciated and please feel free to share this story to show your support to the Croghan family.
Yesterday morning, Carson woke up acting out of character. He was complaining of a headache, walking strangely and appeared lethargic, which led to the suspicion that something wasn't right. Shortly after arriving at Cardinal Glennon, they were told that he has a brain tumor located on the back side of his brain. The tumor was surrounded by a lot of fluid, so they installed a drain on the top of his head to help drain the fluid. After the fluid was drained an MRI was completed to determine how to proceed with removing the tumor.
Bethany and Derek have been so strong through a parent's worst nightmare. Bethany even wrote "He is so strong and has done so amazing since we've been here. When we were getting the most devastating news of our lives, he was in the other room playing with the nurse! He had everyone laughing all day yesterday and even started singing twinkle twinkle little star into the oxygen mask like it was a microphone just before he went to sleep."
Surgery was started around 1:40 pm today to remove the tumor and after a long 4 hours the doctor came in to say he feels that he was able to get all of the tumor out! While this is great news, at this point there are still a lot of unknowns about the recovery process and what will happen next.
While surgery went well, please continue to pray all for a smooth recovery and a very positive outcome so Bethany and Derek can bring their buddy home soon. Any little bit helps, financially or with prayer, and feel free to share his story to help spread awareness and talk about Carson today❤️ Trust your instincts and if you feel like something more is wrong, demand that more tests are done. You are your childs biggest advocate. Thank you to everyone in advance!
