Medical Expenses for Benjamin

Donation protected
[Update from Benjamin’s Aunt: It’s with a heavy heart I am updating this page to say that our sweet baby Benjamin is now in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

There is no possible way to make sense of loss like this. I just pray that moment by moment we can make it through and remember that God is good through all things, he also lost his son in the worst way possible, he never meant any of this for us and now promises to hold that sweet baby safe in his arms until we can see him again.

One of the heavy things on my heart right now for my sister is knowing that even though her baby boy didn’t make it, medical bills are STILL going to come rolling in as well as the expense of his funeral and memorial service. Please consider giving if you are able so we can all help share this burden with them.

Even if it’s just $5. When the many come together, even a small donation can make such a big difference. We thank every one of you that have prayed for us through these dark days and we ask that you continue to do so. Our hearts are breaking right now and it helps us to know that others are lifting us up when we can’t do it for ourselves ]

[Update: We have been overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of support our little Ben has received over the last several months, both leading up to his birth and surgery and during - saying 'Thank You' seems insignificant when faced with such generosity. However, this GoFundMe was created several months ago, before Ben was born and before we understood the extent of his prognosis and treatment. Now that we have a better understanding of the long road to recovery that he has before him, we have increased the funding amount to $25,000. Again, we cannot thank you enough for walking this road with us.]

Early this year, Lauren and I found out we were having a baby boy. We were excited, but also nervous, because once you have a child with special needs, every pregnancy has questions that need answering. Ours? Does he have angelmans?

He did not. However he did have severe congenital heart issues. The leading heart doctor rated it an 8 out of 10 in terms of difficulty.

With just a little more than a month away from Lauren's due date, we are facing some overwhelming challenges..

After the delivery, Ben will immediately undergo open heart surgery. This will not be his first, as the doctors anticipate several more to resolve the issues he faces.

There is the possibility that Lauren may even have to relocate to Dallas or Houston in order to be closer to better facilities.

Why are we raising money?

The original plan was for Lauren to continue to work remotely as close to her delivery as possible, and go back to work afterwards. However with everything going on with Ben this is much less likely to be something we can do, at least not to the same degree that she was. Between Gabe's needs and Ben's, even with the state insurance it is going to be a very difficult road for us financially, with easily thousands of dollars in medical bills ahead of us.

The fundraiser is to assist with those medical bills, with travel expenses, and to cover costs of time off of work for myself for when the baby is born after I've burned through my vacation time at work.

Its my hope that the stress of finances would not be one we have to deal with in the coming months.

Thank you for your prayers, your support, and for anything you feel led to give.
