Medical Expenses for Baby Colson
Donation protected
Baby Colson was born on 9/9/20 at Mountain West Medical Center in Tooele by Emergency C-Section to parents Christopher & Taylor Campbell (my son and daughter-in-law).
On 9/8/20 Taylor had routine blood work done as part of a regular checkup, on the morning of 9/9/20 she received a call from the doctor informing her that her bloodwork indicated a need for an immediate c-section and to come in to the hospital to be admitted.
At approximately 5pm Taylor was taken into surgery and at 5:46pm baby Colson arrived weighing 6lbs 14ozs.

Shortly after the birth the doctors informed his parents that he was suffering from respiratory distress syndrome caused by a surfactant deficiency and would be medevac’d to a hospital with a NICU.

Colson was medevac’d to the University of Utah Medical Center at 9 pm where he was admitted to the NICU and placed on a ventilator. Due to the emergency C-Section and COVID restrictions neither of his parents could accompany him on the flight. Once Taylor is recovered enough to travel from Tooele to Salt Lake City they will be able to visit Colson in the NICU but can not stay at the hospital.
In addition to the extra expenses related to the complicated medical issues and admission to the NICU, Christopher and Taylor expect to have extra living expenses to deal with either fuel to make the 40 mile drive to visit Colson while he is in the hospital, lodging and food expenses to stay in Salt Lake City so they can get to the hospital easier.
NOTE: For those of you that know Christopher and Taylor, their beautiful daughter Kinley (3) is staying with Taylor's parents while they are at the hospital. She is doing well but missing mom and dad.

Although they have medical insurance, and both sets of grandparents (us and Taylor's mom and dad) plan to help out as much as possible there is going to be more need than we can support alone. Right now it is not clear how long Colson will need to be in the hospital or the full extent of the need for support. Funds raised from this campaign will be used to offset immediate medical and living expenses and the fundraiser will be updated if additional support is needed.
