Medical Expenses and Support for Scott Oltman

Donation protected

Scott Oltman checked-off a motocross race on his bucket list, said he and DJ (David Thomas) had the best weekend of riding he's ever had.... and WHACK, in a moment everything changed. Another rider landed on him coming off a jump behind him. At impact with the incoming bike, he was instantly numb and limp. Thankfully, the tangled bikes and other rider missed crushing him as he piled-up on the ground. He was transported from Glen Helen raceway to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Scott has suffered a compressive spinal cord injury from the hit, and he underwent emergency spinal surgery and has paralysis from the shoulders down.

In an instant, he went from celebrating a great weekend to celebrating the moments he could swallow food, move one toe, and feel pressure from a shot in the leg. Our family has been brought back to our knees. So we're grateful for the small things. We all are thanking God that he is still with us and can talk to us.

Scott still has that goofy Oltman smile and sarcastic humor. He is working very hard to keep going with every hurdle, therapy, and sleepless night. His wife, Kim, has been a warrior by his side (literally, she has slept in the hospital room for 2 weeks), as well as Casey Oltman and Megan Oltman who have also been down with him as they can. The family will be making trips to make sure he has someone with him at all times. Diana Baird Oltman and Leo Oltman/Cathi Oltman are pretty amazing parents and are keeping their heads up during this time.

His prognosis of full recovery is uncertain. No one knows. So all possibilities are on the table. He will be in rehab for 2-18 months, with many changes for his family and future.

Please pray for him, for his family, and that he will continue to make progress.
