Medical Expense Support for Mark Vickers

As Mari Ed's sister, (and one of Mark's sister-in-laws) I've been in the front seat with her since Mark was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, February 26, and diagnosed with sepsis, which then put his body into septic shock. Septic shock wreaks havoc on the body. By Sunday at 3 pm, a little over 12 hours after being admitted, 50 tests results were available on Mark's MyChart account. The infection in Mark's blood shut down his kidneys and lungs and created instability in his heart. As a result, he is on dialysis, a ventilator, has had a multitude of medications, several platelet transfusions, is on a feeding tube, has multiple wounds due to skin mottling and numerous other issues as a result of the sepsis.

Mark has received excellent medical care while at Forsyth Medical Center but medical care, in an ICU, for an extended period of time, is costly, and Mark has a steep deductible with his insurance. We have no idea how this will affect Mark long term but we know he has an uphill battle ahead.
