Medical Expense Support for Ken and Judy Ries

On September 28th, 2022 our dad, Ken Ries, passed away after a lengthy hospital stay and many complicated illnesses. Ultimately, his heart, which fought against all odds to keep beating, finally stopped.

Ken was hospitalized for exactly 7 weeks, with a short 4-day stint at a rehab facility. He was initially hospitalized with appendicitis, kidney failure, and heart failure. With such a complicated heart situation, surgeons opted not to remove the appendix and treat it with antibiotics. Although antibiotic treatment eventually cleared up appendicitis, the appendix had already ruptured, leading to Sepsis and multiple organ abscesses.

Our mom spent every day of that 7-week hospitalization by his side whenever she wasn't working. She often missed work or cut shifts short, resulting in income loss. Available funds won't even begin to cover the medical bills resulting from such a lengthy and complicated hospitalization.
