Medical Equipment for Carol Wooden

Donation protected
This GFM page has been established to help Ms. Carol Renee Wooden who sadly suffered a stroke in mid Sept of 2020. She has recently returned to her apartment after spending a month and a half at psychical rehabilitation and several weeks at Methodist hospital in Memphis.

Her stroke has caused her left arm and leg to be come immobile and currently she is unable to walk or accomplish basic activities without the help. Her insurance has covered the costs of a wheelchair, walker, 3N1 and bathtub seat. However, she is in desperate need of a few things in order to put her back in some type of self-functional mode…mainly a replacement Assurance Wireless phone and some grab bars installed in her bathroom.

She really needs a replacement phone by the 20th of November. I have gotten her a straight talk for one month but that runs out on the 20th. She has to have a phone in order to make all her doctor and home therapy appointments and such at this point. After the initial payment of $30 for the replacement phone her monthly phone service will allow her 350 free minutes a month.

She also needs, as aforementioned, some grab bars installed in her bathroom.

I am helping her psychically with getting around her place for day to day operations but finically I have been strapped by the Covid Crisis and haven’t worked but 3 times since March.

If she reaches her goal of $150 it will get her a phone (with $30 minutes free per month), hand rails installed in her bathroom and a lil additional to help with the co pays on her NEW meds … she has been unable to pick up all her meds from Walgreens. At the moment she only has the essentials (Blood thinner, Colterol medication) and has several more waiting to be picked up.

Some of you may know Carol personally (she goes by Renee her middle name) and before this all happened was active in the Crosstown Memphis community helping mainly helping the NEW homeless arrivals by steering them in the directions of hot meals and local shelter in inclement weather. Before moving to Memphis she resided in her hometown of Chattanooga where she was a third generation Salvation Army bell ringer as well has a hospice worker. She is a great person with a loving heart and her strong willed determination will no doubt see her through this have her on her feet again hopefully but mid Spring.
Your prayers and thoughts are most welcome as well.

I have tried several other options such as St Vincent de Paul Memphis and apparently their funds for the year have been exhausted and although Carol was very reluctant for me to start this small fundraiser, she really needs to have these things put in place, any donations of any size will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
