Ondrej was involved in a motorcycle accident on the 16th of March 2018. The below update posts are by his family and Louise, who have been by his side since the event.
This GFM is to assist where possible with Ondrej’s medical and recovery bills.
All donations will be donated to his family with a receipt posted in both the facebook post and on this GFM.
Update 18/3 10:30am
Ondrej has 6 broken veterbas, spinal fluid damage and 2 bleeds on the brain.
His lungs are now working at full capacity but still on life support. Still in induced coma, they just woke him up slightly to see responses and he moves his hands and limbs. He does not repsonded to their commands but seems to be responding when Andy and I speak Afrikaans.
The surgeons and specialists meet on Tuesdays for critical cases and they will then decide whether to operate or not on his spine and brain. His brain and spine are not good .
They say he is a very strong boy and this time it's working against him because they need him to lay still but he keeps reaching to remove breathing tube, the more he moves the higher the possibility he damages his neck and spine.
To be truthful he is not doing well and they cannot tell us what outcome he will have but we remain positive.
Right now we need him to stay still to reduce risk of losing the use of this limbs.
I am only posting updates to keep each informed. The love and support around the world is amazing. The pray chain has started in Canada and we will keep it going here. Ondrej Venter has amazing friends who all have taken the time to check in on us, thank you ♥️.
Louise and Nadine are pillars of strength and together we will get through this.

Ondrej came off his bike between Northcliffe and Wolpole. He was the only one in the accident, according to police report he was travelling the speed limit and he has all the right gear on. No one knows if it's a mechanical problem, if he hit an animal or what. There was no markings on the road, just our boy there and his bike 20 meters in the bush.

Update 18/03 5:12am:
We have just seen the specialist and he is worse than previously told.
He has severe spinal cord damage...6 different vertebrae are fractured, blood leaking into spinal fluid. They say hospital stay will be about 2 months
UPDATE17/03: So what we can tell you as of now is that Ondrej is still on life support and in an induced coma but breathing on his own.
He has a small bleed on the brain, has spinal cord injury and a broken neck, both lungs punctured, broken ribs and let's not forget the broken toe. He is strong, tough and stubborn and we know he will pull through.
He is now in for future MRI testing as they are not happy with a few things but he is stable and doing well.
We as a family are surviving on all your love, support and prays which are flooding in from around the world.. please keep praying
