Medical Care and Therapy for Shuzen Sensei

Sensei Jules Shuzen Harris has been battling a serious bacterial infection due to complications from back surgery in early January. He has had three separate hospitalizations with intensive antibiotic treatment and has been in physical therapy rehabilitation almost continuously for over four months at two different facilities. The surgery and infection have made it difficult for him to stand or walk. He is gradually regaining strength and mobility, but the costs of his medical care, especially the rehabilitation therapy, will not be fully covered by his medical  insurance. Shuzen Sensei has been devoted to his students and the dharma and has been generous with sharing his teaching and support for many people. He is the founder of Soji Zen Center and the author of the recently published book Zen Beyond Mindfulness. Sensei would greatly appreciate the support and generosity of all of us in helping to meet the medical costs of his care and therapy as he recovers. Any and all funds contributed will go directly to Shuzen Sensei to pay for medical expenses, physical therapy, and care at home when he is released.  Contributions of any size will be gratefully received as an expression of dana and care.
