Medical Bills for Riley Koenig, Lehman HS Junior

On April 15, 2023 (2 days after her 17th birthday) Riley Koenig went into cardiac arrest. Thank goodness she was home. Her 19 year old sister called for help while her 18 year old brother administered CPR till the paramedics arrived. Riley was immediately taken to Seaton Hays and then airlifted to Dell Children’s. Where she was diagnosed with HYPERTROPHIC CARDIO MYOPATHY She currently at Dell Children’s waiting to be admitted to the rehabilitation program where she will be working on her recovery for a minimum of 5 weeks.

She wears a cardiac LifeVest, she will have to eventually get an implantable defibrillator and her recovery might include the possibility of a heart transplant.

Because her siblings learned CPR while students at Lehiman, there were able to jump into action. They saved her life, and she has a fighting chance.

• She works at Hawaiian Brothers in Kyle

• Her dream is to go to college in Washington and become a nurse

• Her mom, Mindy Marshall, and dad, Bryan Koenig, have worked for Walmart for 22+ years.

• Her dad also works part time for Hays CISD at Lehman High School.
