Medical bills for our little girl
Donation protected
On 12/17 at around 7:15am my wife dropped Ariana off at school. At 7:26 not even a few miles from the school thanks to morning traffic she got a phone call from the school telling her to come back. Upon arriving our sweet girl was unconscious, hooked up to an AED where she was shocked twice, and receiving CPR. To say our entire world crashed around us would be an understatement. No one seemed to know what happened, but we are forever grateful to the quick reactions of the staff at her school for the fast response time from Lynn Haven PD, Fire, & EMS. Still unconscious, but at least breathing she was transported to Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center. In the ER they were quick to respond a room full of the best people to help our beautiful girl from nurses who came down from the PICU (where we currently are now) to the Peds ER Dr who was out for a run when he got the call and ran to the hospital to be here for her. After assessment at that time they were throwing around seizure, due to the posturing of her body. Something she has never had before. Something that doesn’t even run in our family. While breathing on her own she wasn’t breathing adequately and due to be unconscious still they were worried about protecting her airway so they made the decision to intubate her. More as precaution and to let her body rest while they ran test. Her CT scan and chest X-ray came back normal, she tested negative for covid again, they did do an antibody test but we won’t know those til at the earliest Tuesday, her initial blood work came back normal with the exception of her lactic acid being elevated (which could have been from the CPR and what the Dr thinks is most likely), however that will be repeated later along with other blood work, she has an EKG (normal), lumbar puncture (spinal fluid clear which is a good thing, but still have to wait for cultures), ECHO (normal), and EEG (still waiting on results), after her ECHO, they ordered cardiac blood work which showed a significant elevation on one of them which after talking to the pediatric cardiologist is a concern and will also be repeated later this morning. At 4:15 PM they stopped the one sedation medication in hopes to wake her up some. That did not happen. But due to the breathing tube they started her on another light sedation. At 2:00am our beautiful girl opened her eyes. She was awake, semi alert (thanks to sedation) and responsive.
Fast forward to 12/19/2020. She is awake and alert, but she really wants to go home and see her brother. She is equipped with a cardiac life vest for the next ~8 weeks. We will have to immediately go to a children’s cardiologist down in Orlando for more tests. We still don’t know the cause, so we’re hoping for answers. As most of you know, I hate asking for help, but with the numerous tests, specialists, and travel, the medical expenses are racking up. Any amount helps. Thank you all for reaching out with your thoughts and kind words.
