Medical Bills and Mental Health Support

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Milie and I struggle with comorbid Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder, heavily stigmatized mental health conditions.
During the first few months of the pandemic, I was sent to NYU Langone Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital on separate instances, after a neighbor called emergency services without my behalf. When the police arrived at my front door, I was informed that NYS Law required me to be escorted by ambulance. Leaving me with $800 in medical bills and no support.
Since then, I have continued my journey towards working on improving my lifestyle and mental health. After losing my medical insurance coverage through the institution I had now graduated from, in May, I was unable to see my medical providers at the time. My therapist and psychiatrist were unable to see me without my previous insurance plan, unless I could afford large copays, which unfortunately lead to an inconsistency in my medications.
For months, I struggled to find any treatment facility practicing DBT *specific treatment approach for treating Borderline Personality Disorder* Until I was finally informed that there are NO DBT PROVIDERS in NYC who are in network with MetroPlus Medicaid. Because of the pandemic, I was unable to qualify for the hours required to apply for my part-time position's insurance. Although I am currently seeing a wonderful therapist and consistent psychiatrist, for the first time in my life, my sessions are payed for completely out of pocket, totaling to $800 a month.
With a part-time job as a front desk associate in a gym that could close any moment while awaiting the 2nd wave, of the pandemic, a lack of available shifts, and a lack of available jobs, I am fearing for how I will be able to financially support myself in the near future, following this new year. I am beginning to feel stuck in these circumstances, where I could possibly loose the ability to afford the treatment that is continuing to save my life.
I am asking for support from friends and family who are willing and able to contribute towards my campaign. Focussing more on my mental health recently has made me realize how important community is, especially during these times of isolation. This pandemic has been extremely challenging for people who struggle with mental illnesses, who are struggling to access professional support, like myself.
ANY AMOUNT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Your donations will go towards paying my ambulance bills and monthly treatment costs, including weekly therapy sessions and my psychiatrist appointment once a month. This would allow me to financially support myself through and beyond the new year, so that I am able to continue paying my rent. Let's fight the stigma, talk about mental illness, it's okay to need medications! Thank you, your support means the world!
