Medical Bill Fund for Mark Jenkins

I’m asking all of my friends and family for help in raising funds to cover my father’s recent medical bill totaling $16,994.36, as a result of doctor malpractice.
In August, my father experienced a severe gout attack and he reached out to his primary care physician for help. He was immediately prescribed the steroid Prednisone as well as a strong painkiller, and while they temporarily helped with the pain and made the gout go away, it returned after just a few days, and he was prescribed an additional two weeks of Prednisone. We didn’t know it at the time, but this prescription proved to be a near fatal error.
Had the doctor so much as glanced at my father’s medical record, he would have realized that he had a history of diabetes, which for years had been controlled through intermittent fasting and no medication, and that steroids are known to cause dangerous spikes in blood sugar levels. This is exactly what happened; my father’s blood sugar level skyrocketed to a frighteningly high 903 (normals levels are about 90-120), and he was in danger of going into diabetic shock or a diabetic coma.
He was rushed to the emergency room and spent five days under doctor supervision, and was immediately diagnosed with Steroid Induced Diabetes. He was forced to start a regimen of four doses of insulin per day and now also has the added expense of monthly endocrinologist visits.
Due to the fact that my father thankfully did not lose his life, we have been unable to pursue litigation in a malpractice suit, as several lawyers have expressed that the possible settlement amount, simply put, wouldn’t make them enough money.
