Medical assistance return journey Wendell
Lieve familie en vrienden,
Mijn naam is Marcella Udenhout, en ik zamel geld in voor mijn neef Wendell Samson. Zoals jullie misschien weten, of misschien ook niet, heeft Wendell ernstige gezondheidsproblemen. Hij is in januari helaas getroffen door een hersenbloeding. Hij was er ernstig aan toe, en is nog steeds aan het revalideren. Dit is allemaal in Florida gebeurd, waar hij bijna 5 jaar geleden vanuit Amsterdam naar toe is gegaan om bij z’n familie te zijn. Helaas heeft Wendell geen ziektekostenverzekering in Florida. Het revalidatiecentrum is tot nu toe heel genereus geweest en heeft de behandeling uit een sociaal fonds kunnen vergoeden, maar nu houdt de vergoeding op, en wordt hij ontslagen uit het revalidatiecentrum. Het gaat iets beter met Wendell, maar hij is nog lang niet uitgerevalideerd. Mijn familie in Florida heeft geen geld om de zorg voor Wendell te betalen, dus hoe graag ze het ook zouden willen, hij kan niet in de VS blijven. Daarom moet hij zo snel mogelijk terug naar Nederland. Hij heeft nog steeds een Nederlands paspoort. Ik ben bezig om hem bij een revalidatiecentrum in Amsterdam aan te melden, en een zorgverzekering voor hem af te sluiten. En hopelijk als hij eenmaal in Nederland is een uitkering aan te vragen, en een aangepaste woning voor als hij uit het revalidatiecentrum komt. De eerste hobbel die genomen moet worden is het transport van Wendell vanuit Florida naar Amsterdam. Hij heeft medische assistentie nodig, en dat kost veel geld. Daarom hoop ik op jullie bijdrage, zodat we Wendell’s terugvlucht met medische assistentie binnen een paar weken kunnen financieren.

My name is Marcella Udenhout, and I’m collecting financial support for my cousin Wendell Samson. As you may or may not know, Wendell has some serious health problems. Unfortunately he suffered a brain haemorrhage in January. He was in serious condition and is still recovering. This all happened in Florida, where he moved from Amsterdam almost 5 years ago to be with his family. Only, he doesn't have health insurance in Florida, and the rehabilitation center has been very generous so far and has been able to pay for treatment from a social fund, but now it's really coming to an end.
Wendell is doing a little better, but he is far from fully recovered. My family in Florida has no money to pay for Wendell's treatment, so as much as they'd like to, he can't stay in the US. That is why he has to return to Amsterdam as soon as possible. He still has a Dutch passport. I am in the process of registering him at a rehabilitation center in Amsterdam and taking out health insurance for him. Hopefully once he is in the Netherlands he can apply for benefits and an adapted home for when he’s being released from the rehabilitation center. The first hurdle to overcome is the transport of Wendell from Florida to Amsterdam. He needs medical assistance, and that costs a lot of money. That’s why I hope for your support and contribution, to be able to reimburse Wendell’s return journey with medical assistance within a few weeks.
