Medical assistance for Ares

I'm starting this campaign on behalf of my brother Jon and his best friend Ares.
Ares went into the emergency vet on Monday Oct 5th because he had difficulty breathing. They found he had fluid pooling around his lungs and said it would take $5,000 for them to treat him, or they'd need to put him down. Jon wanted to get a second opinion as he couldn't afford the fees out of pocket, so he took Ares home and invited friends to come say their goodbyes. The next day he got an appointment with another vet and after tests they found Ares has a heart condition that needs to be treated. It may go away over the next 6 months, but it may also need to be treated for the rest of his life.
Jon is heartbroken by the thought of losing his best friend, and is unable to afford the treatments necessary. The funds for this campaign will be used to pay current vet bills, and also provide future care as Ares will need special food/medicine for at least the next 6 months.
A special thank you to the people at the ARC, they cared so much they found a specialist in Springfield. Jon was about to drive to Corvallis to get Ares treated as he was struggling to get an appointment locally. Another big thanks to the vets at Oregon Veterinary Referral Associates for everything they have done, they have been so caring.
