Hi, My name is Shimona Menezes. Daughter of Ubaldo Menezes. I am raising funds and appealing to friends, colleagues and family for my dad’s increasing hospital bills.

My dad - Ubaldo Menezes-was admitted into the ICU on 14th September 2023 at MP Shah hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. He suffered from aspiration pneumonia which resulted in collapse of the lungs, stress cardiomyopathy and hematoma. He may have suffered a stroke, but an MRI could not be done as a result of being in ICU. His condition was critical, on and off mechanical ventilation twice. He developed a secondary infection. He started progressing slowly. He was in the ICU till 30th September afternoon, and transferred to the High Dependency Unit for close monitoring. He is still on oxygen. Once the healthcare team feels he is stable enough, he will be placed in a general unit for ambulation and eventually discharge. It is a long journey to recovery.

As my parents are both elderly, they are also retired so whatever they have is going into paying the bills. The bills are continuing to increase daily. I am paying my student loans and my brother is studying. So, we are limited in how much we can assist our parents. My mum, brother and I humbly appeal for any financial help you can offer us. Our bill up to the 30th is 2,992,980 Kenya Shillings and will increase each day. We have paid KShs 599,000 so far. We continue to do so every few days.

I have set a goal of USD 15,000. It may be less than that, that we may require to pay the bill when he is discharged from the hospital. Whatever you can donate to the cause, will be appreciated. We will be forever grateful to everyone. Above all even more than money, please pray for my dad. That is the most powerful tool to have him recover fast and be out of the hospital.
