Medical and Child Care Expenses

GOAL REACHED!!!!!! Thank you all so much! Donors and followers, please check for updates as they are being posted regularly:)

EDITED TO ADD:
Patricia is still suffering from the painful skin condition on her feet; however, the cause has become unclear.  The manufacturer of the vaccine has unblinded her due to this safety concern and it has been discovered she was in the placebo arm of the trial.
Although her dermatologist, emergency room physicians, vascular surgeon, and even the attending physician of the clinical trial have told her that *without a doubt* this was caused by the injection (since she hadn't taken ANY new medications), this apparently is not the case. She will be undergoing further testing and seeing new specialists to get the correct diagnosis and cause. Of course, all of these doctor visits are going to add up also due to high copays and a $13,500 annual out-of-pocket.
She is still barely able to work due to the pain (6-8 hours a week tops), still unable to walk without a cane -it's officially been a month and a half since the foot lesions erupted- and is still in immense pain. Additionally, she still intends to have the spinal fusion soon, as soon as the wounds are healed.
Thank you so much for your understanding with this complicated issue and how it is evolving; every donor has the option to take back their donations and should be getting notified of this situation. Patricia has created a YouTube channel to make communication easy, transparent, and streamlined so that everyone stays informed.

If you would like more information and details regarding the vaccine trial information, photos, etc...please see the update posted on November 21 as well as subsequent updates. Her family’s safety is top priority and due to an increased amount of cyberbullying, harassment, horribly mean comments, and threats via social media her personal page has been set to as private as possible for now. Thank you for understanding.

If you find yourself reading this I would like to first thank you for taking time out of your day to let me share my cousin Pattys’ story with you.

My cousin Patricia, who lives in Texas, has 6 bulging discs in her back and one in her neck. She suffers from severe pain from spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and needs regular pain management care, physical therapy, and her 3rd back surgery is coming soon.

Also she was a volunteer in a COVID-19 vaccine study recently and has had a severe adverse reaction; initially it was thought by MULTIPLE doctors to have been caused by the injection but now the cause is unclear. (They are now speculating that she abruptly developed an allergy to NSAIDs, more specifically ketoprofen, which is a prescription form of ibuprofen she took sometimes for her back pain.)
She has not been able to walk or go to work full time for almost 2 months now because of huge bleeding sores on her feet. These sores are called a Fixed Drug Eruption for those who may want to dig a little deeper into how this comes about.

She’s been to the emergency room and has seen multiple specialists for this issue and has already lost a significant amount of money due to missing work and paying out of pocket what insurance will not cover. Through the pandemic she has already struggled with making ends meet, since she has been unable to work her music festival side gig (because all festivals were cancelled), as I am sure many of us can understand and relate to in these trying times. With her contract through her position at her regular job, she has no paid leave, so if she is not there she does not get any wages. It is a lose, lose financially.

Additionally, she is facing a major spinal surgery that will cost at least $3,000 and will put her out of work for an additional 6-12 weeks, possibly even up to 6 months contingent upon how the healing goes. She has been anticipating this spinal surgery for a few months but until her feet are healed she will not be able to undergo this surgery due to high risk complications.
She won’t be able to lift her (almost) 2-year-old daughter for the entire time of healing; this means she will have to hire child care and those expenses will just add on to the mound of bills already accumulating.

The funds from this campaign will be used for:
-surgeon, hospital, and physician bills- her family's annual out-of-pocket is $13,500
-paying for 6-12 weeks of childcare for her 22-month-old daughter, since she has no family locally
-living expenses (mortgage, preschool tuition, insurance premiums, groceries, etc)

She was trying to work extra hours to save up for the recovery period before, but the fixed drug eruption is preventing that now.

If you have any means to help cover the cost of lost wages, surgery, child care, or cost of living for the future weeks ahead absolutely anything will help. Even if you're local to her area and can offer child care, that is beyond helpful! Even a share of this page to maybe reach someone who can! The season of giving is fast approaching us! Even a dollar or two adds up… Thank you for reading and I hope you find you and yours staying positive through what has been the hardest year for all of us.
