Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and UN’s global ceasefire appeal— which Armenia has endorsed and Azerbaijan refused to sign—Azerbaijan has launched a large-scale military offensive against Armenia. A previous bout of fighting in the area in 2016 killed about 200 Armenian soldiers and 500 wounded in a matter of four days, but quickly ended in a settlement negotiated by Russia. Now, in a matter of 24 hours, 59 people have been pronounced dead, and about 200 have already been injured.
With this in mind, my mother and I teamed up with Suren Areents to gather together medication for civilians wounded at the border (needs confirmed by the RA Ministry of Defense). Though we know there are many wonderful individuals gathering similar items in Los Angeles and other parts of the diaspora, we do understand that our brothers and sisters are in dire need—and are need of it NOW.
With no time to waste, we will be wiring all funds donated to Suren to push forward aid. To follow him in his mission to provide aid, feel free to add and/or follow Suren on FB at: https://m.facebook.com/areentsfais.
Though physically afar, our hopes with this GoFundMe campaign is to raise money to be able q) provide Medical Aid to Artsakh civilians and 2) to help those displaced by the war.
Beyond providing medical aid, our initiative seeks to donate the second half of funds raised to those who are left without shelter. We will update you all on our journey, as we set out to temporarily provide housing, as well as providing basic necessities such as food, water, clothes, etc.
We thank you greatly in advance for your time, help, and consideration.
