Meaty's Emergency Surgery

Donation protected
I am writing this post on behalf of our fur baby, Meaty.

Meaty has always been a vivacious and healthy Frenchie. But on 1/14, his health took a turn and our world was turned upside down.

One night while Meaty and I were relaxing at home, I noticed that his breathing became severely labored and he started vomiting blood. I took him to our local veterinary hospital where they diagnosed him with aspiration pneumonia. He continued treatment at the same hospital for over a week where they treated him an oxygen cage 24/7, he was administered nebulization treatments, three broad spectrum antibiotics , etc . All of the treatments, as well as the hospitalization itself, reached nearly $10k quickly …

On 1/24, I was told that a recent X-ray showed that Meaty had zero improvement in his lungs and he would need to be transferred to a specialist because there must be an underlying issue with his health besides pneumonia…

After Meaty was transferred to a specialist (via pet ambulance because he was too critical to be out of oxygen for prolonged periods of time) the vet told us that Meaty has a condition called Lung Lobe Torsion. This is a life –threatening condition in which the lung lobe becomes twisted and blood supply is cut off to the lobe. This condition can lead to necrosis of the tissue and a lobectomy needed to be performed in order to save Meaty’s life. This was an invasive surgery with an equally challenging recovery period…

His surgery costs were another $ 8k…and the aftercare treatment costs have yet to be determined…

Meaty means EVERYTHING to my fiancé and I. But the fact is that Meaty is only 3 years old and he deserves to live his life to the fullest despite this health setback.

His medical bills have become overwhelmingly high and we cannot afford them because we just purchased a house two months ago.

I know people say things happen all the time that you can’t prepare for, but this was the biggest shock.

We are beyond devastated that our dog has been in so much pain due to his condition and he will continue to be in pain. The surgeon told us that this is one of the most painful surgeries that he performs on any animal. Meaty's surgery was very complicated and "messy" because some of the necrotic tissue was close to his heart and aorta.

Meaty has already had his surgery and he just got home today 1/27 . He is resting comfortably, but still has a long road to recovery.

If you can donate to Meaty’s health bills, it would be greatly appreciated. Anything helps <3
