To give some background as to why we’re collecting donations: in July of 2017, my mom, Meagan, found herself experiencing foot pain. For several months, she went to doctors and was sent away with prescriptions to simply get better shoes and lose weight. Even after getting new shoes, the pain only intensified until eventually, in mid-September, she drove herself to the ER, but wasn’t even able to walk in the doors because the pain was so severe.
Once admitted, everything happened very rapidly. Meagan discovered that the foot pain was not bad shoes but rather the result of a life-threatening blood clot cutting off circulation to her left leg, caused by an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The pain she was feeling was her foot beginning to die.
Following an invasive 19 hour surgery, it was determined that it was too late and her leg was amputated below the knee. This was a life-shattering change in itself, but in the following months, she suffered from a treatment-resistant bone infection and lost the remainder of her leg. All in all, Meagan has endured 8 surgeries in 8 months.
She has finally beaten the infection, but has been drained of resources and is unsure when she’ll be able to return to work.
This is where this campaign comes in! The money raised here will be used to cover everyday living and medical expenses until she's able to go back to work. Funds to cover her expenses will allow her to focus on healing and moving forward, without financial instability and uncertainty looming over her at all times.
Again, thank you so much for your time and your support!
