Mission to Africa

Donation protected

Ever since two of my children visited the Simba Ministries school in Kenya, and fell in love, I have bided my time until it worked out for me to join them on a trip. I am soooooo excited as that opportunity has now presented itself to me! Not only do I get to see the two boys that I sponsor from Kenya, but I am blessed to be able to join my daughter as she co-leads a missions trip back to the school in Kenya. I caught the missions trip fever when I first went with the Lifelight group to Haiti, shortly after the devastating earthquake. I was forever changed by the people of Haiti and their humble love for God and the ease for which they found extreme joy and thankfulness in the midst of such desolation. It was eye-opening for me and stirred great contemplation concerning God’s purpose for Christians in this world. “Go ye into all the world. . . “ became real for me. I am sure that is why God instilled a passion in me for teaching in the middle school ~ it sure is a fertile missions field, to say the least.

I have longed to be a part of many trips in the past few years, but God’s plans are always best and His timing is always perfect. On June 14th, I will join my daughter, Alex Baumberger, and a team of teachers and others on a short-term mission trip to Kenya for 14 days. We will be partnering with teachers within the Simba Educational Ministries school and working with the students in the classroom. We will also be blessed to make home visits with the families of students from the school. I am especially looking forward to this part of the trip. I cannot wait to allow God to work through me while in Kenya to touch the lives of these special kiddos and know that I will definitely walk away transformed more deeply than the students ever will.

There are two reasons for this letter, as I am sure you are aware of by now. Please, most importantly, consider partnering with me and the missions team in prayer. Pray that we are malleable vessels for God to use in Kenya and that we can be faithful stewards of His time and talents while serving in any capacity that He has in store of us while there. Pray for Alex and Jessica as they lead the team on this trip and that they trust God in every step along the way. Pray for the health and strength for the entire team as it is a huge time change and a long flight over and back. Most importantly, pray that everyone on the team is used for God’s glory in every instance, large and small . . . may we leave a lasting impression of God’s love and the true meaning of being “brothers and sisters in Christ”.
Finally, each team member is responsible for their own fundraising. If, and only if, God lays it on your heart to contribute financially towards this trip, I thank you and am grateful. If you are interested in sending any items overseas with the team for the children, contact me and I would be more than happy to provide a list of items that Simba Ministries will be collecting. If you are interested in contributing financially, you may send a check made out to myself and mail it in the enclosed addressed envelope.
I thank you immensely for your support and covet your prayers for all involved. I look forward to answering any questions you might have considering this trip.
