Please help my mom and her dog

As some of you know, my mom, Lori Schroeder has had a very tough couple of years. Diagnosed with Lupus, Chronic Kidney Disease and more, she pushed to continue working trying to recover savings used from my car accident in 2007. 3 years short of her goal, after 22 years, she was laid off. The last few years of pushing through had taken a toll on her health, and her docs were encouraging her to stop working and apply for disability. Unsure if a coincidence or due to the stress of the lay off, moms health took a nose dive with kidney functions dippin to 37%, elevation in liver functions, swelling of her corneas, and severe muscle weakness causing multiple falls where she could not get up off of the ground. She lost over 40 pounds, due to these conditions and had multiple broken bones.

Eventually diagnosed with Myotonia as well as myopathy with rimmed vacuoles, she has been given an estimated 5-10 years before she will lose all use of her arms and legs. She already has significant loss of sytength i her hands, and swallowing issues which lead docs to believe she will need a feeding tube. She enthusiastically voluntered for and participated in physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy in an effort to learn as much as she can about her conditions. Discharged because, beyond knowledge, there is not much they can do for her. She continues to do do her exercises and still refuses to use her trekking poles or seated walker unless its a really bad day. Actually she prefers to stay home on those days.

Her house, purchased at the height of the housing bubble, is in foreclosure as she owes 70000 more than its value after paying faithfully for 11 years (thank you country wide). She has applied for social security disability as well as retirement disability through her previous employer which are still pending. She has been researching and taking advantage of public programs when possible.
It's a difficult system to navigate even for those who know how its supposed to work. She has found she needs joint reconstruction surgery in her wrist; is truly bone on bone with excruciating pain, but cannot do this until she has finished sifting through the household items.

Mom has found a cheaper 1 floor home to move into, close to me so I can help, but does not have the stamina to do what it takes to empty the house and do the actual move. (thanks to her friends who have helped when able thus far.)

in the middle of struggling through multiple doctors appointments requests from the disability board, and trying to pack up a few items to take to her 700 sq foot rental,
she has been been hit with some unexpected emergency expenses outside of her control. Its all very overwhleming . She is without heat in CT. Her furnace is not working and after working with Link Mechanical Services, parts are needed that will take another 4-5 business days to come in. She is currently heating her house off of 2 space heaters. A few more might help to keep the chill off. The current estimate for repair is over $1100. She has already had to come up with hundreds for diagnostics. More heartbreaking, her love of her life, 6 year old companion bull terrier, Taylor, has just been diagnosed with a painful mass in her belly. In order to make an educated decision on next steps, an ultrasound and a consult with a specialist is required. My mom has received an estimate of at least $ 360 For the ultrasound alone. Additional expenses will be required, but depend on the decisions made after the ultrasound. The paid bill to date on Taylors treatment has surpassed $500.

In an effort to not have to do a "go fund me," my mom has been diligently applying to private foundations for funds with no success to date. She has agreed that it is time.

It is with great respect, that I request your assistance to help my mom get through this tough time. No amount is too small. I know she will be forever grateful. She cares so much about everyone else and is always a shoulder to cry on to her friends or a source of support for anyone in need. I have had many surgeries and hospitalizations and she has never batted an eye to make sure I had her full and entire support. No matter what toll that ended up taking on her, financially or physically. No one deserves to struggle this badly and I am increasingly worried about the outcome if she can not get some help during this time. Thank you in advance for your help.

I will keep you informed as the information changes.
