MD to Turkey

In March of 2011, the Syrian Civil War began with terrible violence. Since that time, the conflict in Syria has claimed countless lives and has displaced over 11 million people (over 5 million have fled the country, while over 6 million are displaced within their homeland). As families have fled the violence, they have become vulnerable to a myriad of issues, to name a few:

-lack of food and clean water
-lack of shelter
-lack of education
-becoming victims of human trafficking

While much has been said about this humanitarian crisis in the west, and the issue has become polarizing in a political sense, the truth remains:

People-men, women, and children-have suffered horribly.

People created in the image of God.

People that dream of a day when this nightmare will end.

They have suffered losses that can not be understood. They have witnessed the horrors of hell in their homeland.

It's time to trade horror in for hope.

The SoCal Network (socalnetwork.org) is working to do just that. Through the combined efforts of our nearly 500 churches throughout Southern California, we are working to help make a lasting impact in the lives of those who are most vulnerable.

There is tremendous need, but that means there is also tremendous opportunity!

This February, I have the opportunity to join a team to help bring hope to the hopeless. We will be traveling to Turkey to work with some amazing humanitarian workers that are serving on the front lines of this crisis. The team on this trip will be made up of lead pastors from all over our network. Our goal is to see firsthand what can be done so that we can lead our congregations in making a lasting and positive change in not only Turkey, but throughout the whole region.

Would you partner with me in this endeavor? There are three ways that you can help:

1) Pray! Pray that the conflict will come to an end, that lives will be saved, and that the Gospel will bring hope into this dark situation.
2) Help sponsor my trip. The total cost of my trip is Only $1,500. Anything that you could do to help with raising those funds would be welcomed.
3) Give to the Refugee Response project by visiting http://missions.socalnetwork.org/the-refugee-response
