MC's loss from Hurricane Harvey

47" of rain in one storm -- can you imagine? Would your home survive this?
My friend of many years, MC, was in Port Arthur, Texas during Hurricane Harvey. She was airlifted out of Port Arthur to a shelter in Dallas, which is a tremendously long distance away from Port Arthur. She is a disabled senior citizen, gets around with a walker, and knows no one in Dallas.
While the Red Cross, FEMA and other organizations have helped, there is a tremendous amount that they haven't done. Basically, she has lost everything. We are getting her back to the Beaumont/Port Arthur area this weekend, but there are costs to be incurred to see if anything is salvagable from her apartment, get a new place to live, etc. This has been an overwhelming nightmare for her.
Can you help? The costs are mounting up and she needs help now. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. This is a lady who has been involved with cat rescues over many years and has given a lot to so many. Please, if you can help, it would be wonderful.
This Thanksgiving most of us have lots to be thankful for - maybe between us we can give MC reason to be thankful again.
