McMinns Seminary Adventure

"We're going on an adventure!" That's what Erin and I told family and friends when we announced in June of 2016 that we had discerned the Lord's call to seminary. It HAS been an adventure! Nearly two years later, we've seen God miraculously provide for us through many people!
Before we left Harrisburg, PA, a pastor friend told me, "Bryce, don't be like I was. My family struggled severely with finances in seminary. We kept quiet. Only after seminary did I tell the story of our struggles to friends and family. They responded, 'WHY!? Why didn't you say something?! We would've helped!'"
Providing for a family while studying full-time is a challenge. It costs our seminary $30,000 per year to train a seminarian. After support from individuals and congregations, seminarians like me are only charged $11,700 per year for tuition, or a $35,100 total for 3 years on campus. Our housing is also deeply discounted. Our monthly housing fee for our beautiful home on campus is $910 in a market that commands more than double. Our 3-year housing fee comes to $29,120 in a market commanding over $60,000.
Adding to the challenge, students at the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary are NOT eligible for federal student aid through grants and loans.
Books for three years of full time seminary classes cost about $2,000. So our total cost for 3 years at seminary is $66,320.
Now see how God has provided for us: In just 21 months, God has used people like YOU to cover already $51,370 of that cost! We're so grateful! The total remaining to cover all of our seminary costs is just $14,950! Praise God! It's hard to express our gratitude for how God has lifted this burden off of us. God has used our home congregation, Ruthfred Lutheran Church, and other friends and family members to bless us abundantly!
In fact, among the other blessings we've received, we arrived on campus in 2016 to news that someone had made a $10,000 anonymous gift to help with tuition! Yet again in 2017, another anonymous blessing arrived: a $14,000 gift!
We're asking friends and family to join us on this seminary "adventure" by helping us reach our goal of covering the remaining $14,950 for tuition, housing, books, and other expenses.
Our new, little Amazon business, Two Blue Puppies, has been a blessing, helping us to cover other living expenses. Please prayerfully consider joining with us in this seminary "adventure." Also, let us know if there is some way we can be praying for you and your family.
