I feel very fortunate to be able to say that the first time I met my wife was when we were in first grade. All through school we were friends, but we didn't start dating until after we graduated high school. I knew right away that Brianna was the one I was going to marry, so I proposed in October of 2010. One of the best days of our lives came on August 27, 2011 when I was able to call her my wife.
Since we always knew we wanted to become parents, we started trying for a baby just one year after our wedding. After two years of no progress, we decided to go to the doctors and see what could be done to help the process along. Brianna was quickly diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) - a hormone imbalance that causes irregular periods, making it difficult to conceive. The name “Poly”, meaning “many”, and “Cystic”, meaning “cysts”, refer to the fact that those with PCOS may have enlarged ovaries that contain many very small cysts. After Brianna was diagnosed with PCOS, we quickly began treatments. We tried multiple different fertility medications for almost a year until our doctor said we had exhausted their resources and Invitro Fertilization (IVF) is our only chance. We have been to a specialist and they confirmed what the doctors told us: IVF is our only chance to be able to get pregnant. IVF is extremely expensive and insurance won't cover anything because it's not a "necessary" procedure.
At this point, we would like to begin the IVF procedure. Any donations received will go toward helping with the high costs. This process will hopefully help us achieve a life goal of having a family. Any sort of donation would mean the world to us and we will be forever grateful for the help. The past five and a half years has been emotional to say the least. I do believe that it has brought us even closer and has made us stronger than ever as a couple. We look forward to our next step in life and need a little help to get there. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we begin this intense journey!
