McElfresh Strong - Cancer Sucks!

Donation protected
If you know Bobby, you know his love for two very important things, his family and hunting.  If you happen by Bob and Jenna's house any given fall day, you will see hunting paraphernalia from Bob and any of the many friends that the McElfresh's have adopted over the years.  You see, their house is always open and friends are always welcome.  Any day that he can, Bob will be in the woods, ready to bring home the next big buck.

This year was a little different for Bobby... November 13th of 2017 he was helping a friend drag a Pike County buck out of the woods, sitting on the tailgate reminiscing about all the years that they had been hunting together.  Bobby mentioned that he had to go to St. Louis the following day to get results from some tests that had been run.  The doctors had talked like it was a viral issue that was causing the problems that he had been facing.

The doctors had a very different answer for him.  Leukemia.  The next 44 days, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, were spent at the hospital receiving daily treatments.  He couldn't leave the hospital.  For anyone this would be agonizing, but Bob was missing prime hunting time in Pike County.  His tree stands were hung, but sat empty day after day...  This wasn't just a missed opportunity to do what he loved, this was missed opportunity to fill his freezer, provide food for the family.

December 29th, he finally got to go home.  But this journey didn't end there.

Bob has to continue receiving treatments to keep the Leukemia in remission and try to make sure it never comes back again.  He has to drive 50 miles away from home 5 days a week to see a doctor that can administer the treatments.  This should end sometime in late July.

Bobby has not been able to work since November 13th, and will not be able to return to work until the treatments are completely over.    That is 9 months of no income, coupled with hefty medical expenses and continued cost of gas to drive to and from the doctor for the next 7 months.   Bob and Jenna need our help.  Please help us ease their burden and show them that there are people all across the country that love them and want to help them.  Many of us have stayed in their home, eaten at their table, shared in their hospitality.  It's time to return the favor, it's time to help them.
