Pupdate: Thank you all for your love and support. It means a lot and it’s made the past few days easier. Biggie received an MRI on Tuesday and the neurologist confirmed he had a “spinal stroke” in his mid back. Unfortunately there is no cure for a spinal stroke, however a lot of dogs recover well after 6-8 weeks of rest and a few months of physical therapy. We were able to bring him home Tuesday night, which made us feel a lot better. We’re planning to start physical therapy in the next week or so (the neurologist said the sooner the better). The sweet man is still a little beside himself but he’s in much higher spirits now even though he’s still unable to walk or use the bathroom without assistance. It’ll be a long journey helping him get his mobility back but we’re happy he is home and comfortable. We cannot thank everyone enough! We will be sure to keep everyone updated on his progress!
Hi everyone, as some of you know, our sweet man suffered a major injury today. Earlier today, despite his 9 years of age, the sweet boy decided to go after a squirrel rapidly. He ended up doubled over yelping in pain, immobile. Biggie has had a prior minor back injury, but this time his legs were limp so we opted for the ER. At this time there are many things that can be wrong. The best case scenario is that biggie has a slipped disc that surgery can help. Worst case, he has damage to his spinal cord that could paralyze him permanently. We will know more after his MRI on how severe the situation is. As a doggie mom, all I know is that he yelled out in pain like never before and is very scared. We are asking for any help at all for his definite MRI ($7k) and for the possible surgery ($12k). We will keep this page updated as hopefully our baby boy will recover through the surgery and not be paralyzed. He’s 9 years young and still our baby. We are grateful for any help provided and promise to shower you with biggie's love and kisses once we get through this. Thank you so much <3
