My relocation and transition costs to date have surpassed $10,000, with the majority of that stemming from no work since the hurricane hit and the monumental costs just to leave the island, with two dogs in tow.
I did not qualify for FEMA help, and PR unemployment is still backed up and non-responsive since Maria hit.
I have been Stateside for 10 days and have been actively interviewing, and with promising results! However the cost of living does not stop during this time, and I am looking at possibly up to 4 months in a loss of income.
The help I am asking for will go towards paying bills, and it will also help with covering new housing as well as furniture. I had to leave behind all that I own, to which was donated to the people on the the island, and I must now purchase all new items. This is everything from wash clothes to a bed, to work clothes and everything in between.
After sitting down and reviewing all elements involved in recovery, it will set me back $30,000. This stemming from Hurricane Maria and having to leave all my possessions behind to start all over, which includes employment and all expenses to start up a whole new life. The goal I have set is to help get me started, and I would appreciate any help given.
Setting up a go fund me is no easy task, as it is deeply personal and very humbling. So know that any help will be truly appreciated and every donation will get a response.
