Hey, all you great people out there. Friends, family, fellow Scouts, mentors, teachers, and anyone else that I've ever met & befriended or that has ever made me the man I am today.
I am in desperate need of your help. I am in the process of studying abroad this Summer 2015 for the Sydney Internship Program, a two-month unpaid internship in Sydney, Australia, where I would get to work in a workplace setting that best matches my career field. Ideally, I want to work in a pharmaceutical setting during this internship, because my dream job would be to work at the management level of a pharmaceutical research company.
While working, I will also be completing 6 extra hour credits worth of coursework in these two months. I would leave at the end of May and come back at the July. I've always wanted to go to Australia, whether it was for the Outback and kangaroos, or the Australian Open for tennis, or to see the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. Honestly, I'm just jealous of their accents.
That's the goal. And it's right in front of me.
Everything looks set to go. Except when it comes to funds.
Due to my mom's health issues lately, we've had to cut back on some funds. My parents told me just recently that they would only be able to cover barely $4000 out of a $9000 trip, and that if I couldn't come up with the money on my own, I wouldn't be able to go. My mom told me she's sorry but I might never get to go study abroad.
But I don't want money to come in between me and my goal. I'm in the process of applying to upwards of 20 or so scholarships. But it's still a gamble. I'm trying, but I still don't know if I can reach my goal.
So here I am, asking you to help fund my trip to Sydney, Australia for an internship in the pharmaceutical field. Any kind of donation, small or large, $50, $10, even $1, would be a blessing to me. I believe that I can get there, but not without your help.
