May's Mission: a year with IJM Uganda

Join me in the fight to give women and children a voice when their community silences them. I'm moving to Uganda to work with International Justice Mission for a year of service. IJM is a wonderful organisation that works to end slavery in our lifetime. After hearing about my passion for women and children's human rights, particularly the horrific practice of forced marriage, it was decided that I would join the legal team in IJM's Gulu office. We will be working to bring justice to women and children who have been subjected to domestic violence and who have had their basic human rights violated. Those who have been rejected by society and have no one to stand up for them - that's where we come in.

I have always been passionate about helping others, it's the reason I chose to study law in the first place - not for the money, but for the opportunity to use my knowledge to stand up, educate and equip the most vulnerable people in society. To be a voice for the voiceless, to bring hope to those without, to help and to love. 

My year with IJM is completely voluntary, so I need your help. I'll be needing to pay for monthly accommodation, utilities, groceries, plane tickets to and from Uganda, including flights to DC for IJM Orientation and accommodation costs. It's a lot, a little overwhelming, but I'm working incredibly hard to make this a reality.
