Mayra's Memorial

As many of you might have known, my mom was fighting a cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma for about 1 year. She was full of life and humor and not once during her fight did she give up. While fighting this rare cancer among young people, she was always keeping me positive even when we would receive not-so-great news after doctor's visits. She made sure that she was living her life. Whether that was making amazing meals during the holidays, keeping her home beautifully decorated, or spending time with her loved ones. Mayra, loved by many, will forever be in all of our hearts, especially mine. She was my warrior, my guide, my hero and I am grateful to have been able to be her rock during this difficult journey but more than anything we were each other's backbone since she had me 23 years ago.Since she was diagnosed in March of 2017, I knew that my mom didn't want people to see her struggle. She wanted people to know that she was doing great and to remember her as the happy, warm hearted soul she was. If I knew one thing, it was that she wouldn't want anything more than to remain by my side, so I want to grant her wishes of being cremated. Her ashes will be with me for every step of my life.
