<div><strong>Who am I and why am I raising money?</strong>
</div>
<div>Hi, I'm Steve and I'm honoured to be the Mayor of Runnymede for this year. In fact, I am the last Mayor of Runnymede as the Council is being dissolved after 53 years of existence on 31st March 2027.
</div>
<div>Traditionally, our Mayors support one or two local charities. So between now and April 2027, when my mayorship ends, I want to raise money for two wonderful charities that operate in the Borough of Runnymede.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Who are your Charities and why are they important?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><a href="https://eikon.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Eikon Charity</a> </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="null" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/108089123_1789511154376398_r.jpg" width="100%" />
<div>Eikon have been helping young people to "<strong>feel safe, heard and supported for 30 years</strong>". In that time they have helped <strong>nearly 250,000 children</strong> <strong>and young people</strong> navigate challenges, build resilience and reach their potential. That includes <strong>my own daughter, when she really struggled with the pressures and problems she faced at school</strong>. But yet Eikon are relatively unknown, even locally. So I really want to raise their profile as well as raise money for them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><a href="https://holmefarm.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Holme Farm Community Gardens &amp; Workshop</a> </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="null" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/108089123_1789511257901703_r.jpg" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What would they do with the money raised?</strong>
</div>
<div>My other charity is <strong>Holme Farm, in Woodham</strong>. Situated on 14 acres of Surrey countryside, they help individuals improve and regain personal well-being through nature, community, and companionship. Based on old DEFRA farm land, the team there have restored the site sympathetically with <strong>the ethos of Nature and Community coalescing in harmony</strong>. They have been running several project streams in parallel that cover <strong>Arts &amp; Crafts, Biodiversity, Community Garden and a Workshop</strong>. They currently have <strong>400+ volunteers </strong>and are working with over <strong>20 business and organisational partners</strong> to deliver projects, big and small.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What will the money go towards?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>For Eikon, </strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>£50 could go towards a Youth Support Practitioner’s time</strong> to provide personalised support and safe spaces for students to get the help they need to thrive.
</li>
<li><strong>£1,000 can provide 14 full days</strong> <strong>of 1:1 support</strong> from our specialist practitioners
</li>
<li><strong>£3,000 can pay for 3 full days of adventure activities</strong>, giving 45 young people who need our help the chance to build their confidence and resilience.
</li>
<li><strong>£5,000 can fund a 2-night residential for 20 of the most vulnerable young people</strong> giving them respite, a chance to make new friends and have fun.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>For Holme Farm, </strong>
</div>
<div>They need to provide outside accessible toilets as part of their joint venture with Foodwise (which is part of Fair Share). Expected cost is around £10k
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>£1000 would get the groundworks</strong> for a toilet block started
</li>
<li><strong>£2500 would get the footings and drainage</strong> completed
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What are you doing to raise money?</strong>
</div>
<div>Between now and April 1st 2027, I will be hosting a number of charity events. Currently scheduled are:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>"Tour de Runnymede" cycle ride</strong> : myself and a team of non-club riders will take a route to visit all the towns and villages in Runnymede Borough (around 30 km)
</li>
<li><strong>BCM (Beer Curry Music) Night</strong>: featuring a 80/90's cover band and delicious Indian food from a local restaurant, a licenced bar and a prize raffle as well.
</li>
<li><strong>Family Olympics</strong>: An afternoon of family fun with activities ranging from pub classics, board games, garden games and pub quiz. Something for everyone with prizes for best teams and a prize draw.
</li>
</ul>
<div>That still leaves a couple of months for some other events, time and resources allowing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you are a local business, or even just a fortunate individual, we are also looking for <strong>event sponsorship and prizes</strong>. So if you are able to support my efforts in that way as well, please get in touch.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>As I said at the start, I'm the last Mayor of Runnymede, a historic Borough where the Magna Carta was signed. And also where the middle stump was invented for Cricket!</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So please help me sign off the Mayor's Office with a bang and support my fundraiser by making a donation, attending one of my events or even just spreading the word amongst your friends. <strong>Especially if you or your family have benefitted from the wonderful support provided by either Eikon or Holme Farm!</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Thank You</strong>
</div>
