Maylyn, A Dancer's Dream

Maylyn want to dance again! Maylyn has always had a passion for dancing as a very young child. She came across an opportunity to compete at Star Pointe Dance Company in 2017. She immediately soared into an advanced student and went on to compete in various nationals. She won two separate scholarships! One was Shake the Ground offered in New York and the other at Joffrey Ballet in Georgia. Unfortunately, she could not attend the NY Shake the Ground offer due to lack of funding. COVID-19 affected her opportunity to attend Joffrey Ballet in Georgia.
COVID has affected everyone's lives in one way or the other. For Maylyn, the impact was unbearable, she was in the middle of competition season and recital, prepping for Nationals in North Carolina, and then the inevitable took place and everything was ordered closed. The studio tried to survive by virtual classes, all competitions were canceled, the studio could not stay afloat and ended up closing its doors in June. This has devastated Maylyn (and all the dancers) thinking her future dance goals were over.
Then comes the GOOD NEWS, Maylyn's mom Mirna called around and found Industry Dance. The studio asked for videos of her previous competitions and immediately scheduled an audition and she was ACCEPTED into the dance company.
This is where I (Jennifer Cartwright) decided to set up this page (with the blessing of Mirna and Maylyn) to help raise funds for her 2020 tuition and competition fees. Any money raised will go directly to Maylyn for monthly tuition and towards competition fees.
I know times are tough for basically everyone. We understand that not everyone can help right now. Prayers and good wishes are accepted with open hearts. However, if you can, it would be so amazing to raise some fund for Maylyn. Even $5 will go a long way to help this sweet girl reach her dreams. We do need to try and raise some funds quickly as she is going to start right away. Again, I felt the urge to help (as I am close with Maylyn and her Mom) and I thought this avenue may be a way to help them. God bless you all and your giving hearts.
