Mayfair Apartment Fire Victims

Donation protected
On Tuesday, June 6 at about 7:10am, Jose Tiendo smelled smoke and knew something was wrong.  He left his business to see smoke coming from the Mayfair Apartment building across the street.  Little did he know, that he would save the lives of 43 low income residents and 10+ animals that morning.

Jose ran into the building and began knocking on apartment doors to notify the tenants of the fire.  Amidst his efforts to notify the tenants, he pulled the fire alarm and dialed 9-1-1.

All 43 tenants were able to escape the fire; one suffered from a gash to his head.  At this time, the 43 low income tenants have lost everything due to fire and smoke damage.  They are without the basic essentials including toiletries, clothing and food.

This GoFundMe account is to help provide basic essentials to the victims (low income) of this fire, who have been displaced from their homes.   We are so thankful for Jose's quick reaction to the smell of smoke, and for saving these residents of our community.

Thank you to the Stockton Fire Department and the Stockton Police Department for their quick response and bravery - they were able to successfully remove all 43 victims of this fire.  The four-alarm fire brought help from firefighters from 11 different agencies from the region.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation and unknown at this time.
