Maayan Bat Devorah Hadassah

Maayan is a 9yr old girl who is suffering from Battens Disease, a rare genetic disorder. Maayan was born healthy and developed normally until the age of 3 when the disease suddenly bewildered her family and started to attack her neurological system. Within the years that have followed she has stopped talking, walking, eating via her mouth, seeing and had lost all voluntary control of her body. She has also developed epilepsy and a severe lung disease which requires oxygen and suctioning 24 hours a day so that she doesn't choke on her phlegm. Her parents are the primary caregivers and are looking for extra help. They live in Eretz Yisrael as a family of 7, B"H. They are having a hard time getting enough assistance from the government to provide for an in home nurse. Anything you can contribute will make a huge difference towards providing a nurse and taking care of Maayan's needs. Her parents want to impart that although it is a great challenge to care for Maayan's needs daily on their own that it is a precious mitzva which they do humbly with honor for this very special neshama .
