Maya is my 5-1/2 year old Lab/Pit bull mix who has been my rock, anchor and steadfast companion for the last 4 years. From the day I rescued her from Chicago's Anti-Cruelty Society, she has been buddy, my source and my link to what is important in life.
She is Exuberance, Heart, Discovery, Joy and Love.
She loves to swim in Lake Michigan, chase squirrels, and greet every human and creature with an inclusive happiness that makes everyone smile.
Two weeks ago, she was diagnosed with terminal canine lymphoma.
Although her illness is terminal, it is treatable. With a round of chemotherapy, she could look forward to up to two more years of life, health and love.
I am committed to giving her that chance.
