This is Isla, aged 6 and Max, aged 1.
After a bump on the head spiralled into bruising and a rash, Max has been in and out of hospital since 29th August 2018. Currently they are still investigating his condition, they are 99% certain it's Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) but tests are still being done and meetings taking place to ensure his treatment is right. UPDATE 20/09/2018: MAX HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH AN INCREDIBLY RARE DISEASE CALLED APLASTIC ANAEMIA IN WHICH THE BONE MARROW AND STEM CELLS ARE DAMAGED. HE NEEDS A FULL BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT AND IT CANT BE FROM A VOLUNTEER SO HE HAS TO GO ON THE ORGAN DONOR REGISTER. THIS MEANS THEY HAVE TO WAIT AND, DURING THIS TIME, MAX WILL HAVE NEXT TO NO IMMUNE SYSTEM. AS WELL AS THIS, EIGHT WEEKS BEFORE HIS OPERATION HE WILL NEED CHEMOTHERAPY AND WILL BE HOUSE BOUND AFTER THE OPERATION UNTIL HIS IMMUNE SYSTEM RECOVERS. WHILE HE MAY NOT HAVE LEUKAEMIA, IT IS A SERIOUS DISEASE AND, IN THE DOCTORS WORDS, JUST AS BAD.
His Mum, Becky, was due to start a new job just as he was admitted to hospital and his Dad, Jake, is a plasterer apprentice. As expected Becky has been unable to start her new job.
As you can imagine money is going to be tight for this family and, as someone said, if they could live off LOVE they would be millionaires but unfortunately that isn’t the case.. Isla is at home too, missing her little brother, Mummy and Daddy Jake while they spend time in hospital with Max and when I spoke to Becky about setting this up she was hesitant, as anyone would be, but one wage will not cover their bills let alone anything else.
Becky, Stef, Jo and I have been best friends since school and we know that Becky would do the same for us if we were in her position so we have set up this page so that those that want to donate and support the family through Max's treatment and recovery can do. It doesn't have to be huge amounts, anything will be appreciated.
