Max Majothi Family Support

This past weekend, the Department of Corrections lost a remarkable member of our team.  Probation and Parole Officer Max Majothi passed away unexpectedly just after completing his second week of Basic Academy.  Although he was a new member of Montana’s public safety family, he was well-liked by all his classmates and has left an impact upon our Department that will be felt for years.

Originally from Africa, he moved to the United States when he was three years old with his parents.  He joined the Marine Corps and provided our country with eight years of service as an accomplished interrogator.  Following his time in the Marine Corps, Max worked for Cook County in Chicago as an investigator.  He then transferred his skills into a new career with the US Department of Agriculture as an investigator responsible for identification of fraud.

Max spoke seven languages and had a natural way of putting people at ease.  In the brief time we had to acquaint ourselves with him, we learned he was a devoted son and has left behind a loving family.  He is survived by his mother Roshan Poona, to whom he was very close, his sister Shabnam and brother-in-law Syed as well as their two children.

Max was looking forward to joining the probation and parole office in Sidney after concluding his training in Helena.  He maintained a distinguished career and came to Montana after leaving a position that paid twice what we could start him at in Montana and after his previous employer offered him a promotion in attempt to convince him to stay.  He came to Montana to make a difference in a small town.  He was dedicated to helping other people to become their best selves.  Whether he joined our family for two weeks or for 30 years, we valued his commitment to public safety and hope we can assist his family in bringing him home.

Please help us assist Syed Mahmood and the rest of Max's family.
