Max is a good boy!

Max is a good boy. He's the kind of dog that you want your kids growing up with. Never an ounce of aggression, let's my girls dress him up, makes a great pillow, is an amazing snuggler, and is my husband's shadow.

On Wednesday 9/30 at 6:30 pm in Blanchard, Oklahoma, my 4 year old let our 2 dogs out the front door as she has many times before.  They always come home after their run around town and as much as we look for them and try to convince them, they don't come to us when we search and always come back on their own time. This time was different. When I got home from work around 2 am, our boy Pete met me at my car limping. His brother Max was no where to be found. My husband drove around looking for him once more before coming home for the night. We were in the kitchen and heard the doggie door open followed my heavy breathing. Max was home!!! He was matted with blood and we initially thought his breathing was from his 7 hour adventure on the town. We noticed a small gash/hole and due to his breathing we decided to take him in to an emergency vet. Neels has now told us that someone has shot him and he is fighting for his life.  The bullet deflected from chest cavity and is still lodged in his muscle tissue. Due to the original wound, air and fluid is leaking into his chest cavity. They have removed a lot of the air and fluids and will be continuing to repeat this process as well as giving him IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. We are looking at $2,400-$3,700 in vet bills. We have Care credit and will be doing whatever we have to do to keep our boy with us. 
What I would like if you can't help financially, is for you to share his story with anyone and everyone.   
Max is a pit. Pits get such a bad reputation, that people resort to shooting people's family members. He would never hurt ANYONE! Max is a good boy!!!
