Jaimie’s Journey

Story

Dear Family and Friends Many of you will know that on Friday March 31 Jaimie Grafton suffered a tragic accident that will forever change her life and that of her family. After falling down a flight of stairs, losing consciousness and sustaining a traumatic subdural bleed, she required intubation and was transferred from Fox Creek to Edmonton. Jaimie is still in hospital, unable to walk or sit up on her own and has potentially lost the vision in her left eye. During her hospitalization Jaimie had an MRI which showed a hemorrhagic stroke. Family means everything to Jaimie. Growing up her house was always the place to be. Her mom Laurie has been a matriarch to not just her immediate family, but to close friends and any strays her kids brought home. Jaimie is the same. She has never lived more than a five minute drive from Mandy and Laurie and she loved nothing more than trying to mother her baby brother Tyler. Jaimie grew up in Fox Creek, often returning to spend time with a tight-knit circle whose friendships span decades. When moving to Edmonton she started her career as a teacher by learning sign language in order to work with some of the most deserving children in the city. Jaimie still resides in Edmonton and this is where she met her fiance Rob. Together, Rob and Jaimie have four children, the youngest of whom has just turned one. Jamie and Rob's family are facing a long, hard recovery as Jaimie slowly learns to be herself again. She was just was returning from maternity leave, so will not have a large income for the summer. Not only that, but Jaimie and Rob have planned a wedding which was to take place in July. This is above and beyond hospital parking fees, food, and Rob having to take time off to be there for her and care for their family. Those of you who know Jaimie will know her kindness, generosity and loving-kindness, and hope that in that same spirit you can donate to help Jaimie, Rob, David, Alex, Mavis, and Brenton through this tough time.
