Maven's Surgery and Medical Needs
Donation protected
Meet Maven! She is a young German shepherd puppy who unfortunately has had a rough start to life. After having health problems with her prior owners, she was surrendered to me after they could not afford her care. She has just been diagnosed with PRAA (persistent right aortic arch), which is a congenital heart problem where a small band of tissue that normally regresses is still present. That small band of tissue is leading to constriction of her esophagus, the tube responsible for passing food from the mouth to the stomach. The constriction of her esophagus causes stretching of the muscles in the esophagus (megaesophagus) and malnutrition. Fortunately with surgery, the band constricting her esophagus can be removed and she can hopefully live a full, healthy life. The surgery should be performed at a specialist and is expensive, but please consider donating and sharing her story so together, we can save her life!
