Our dear brother Mauricio worked tirelessly for over thirty years at the Salvadoran airline TACA-AVIANCA. Mauricio’s career has been marked with responsibility, professionalism and devotion, even becoming promoted to become Chief of Flight at TACA for the last 15 years of his career before retiring at 59. After so many flights traveling the world and getting to know so many different places, Mauricio has attained friends from all over due to his kindness, humor and generous heart. Working in the airline industry and for TACA led Mauricio to have a successful, fulfilling career, all while providing for his family as the man of the house: a husband, father, and grandfather.
Unfortunately, last June in 2017, Mauricio was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer in his jaw. This cancer, invasive squamous cell carcinoma, develops in the outer layer of the skin and has formed a large tumor on Mauricio’s jaw. That very June, Mauricio started his cancer treatment with the help of El Salvador’s Hospital Social Security. Since then, he’s undergone 23 rounds of radiation therapy and various intensive rounds of chemotherapy. Mauricio’s physical condition has steadily deteriorated as the harsh treatment leaves him drained and weakened. Because Mauricio’s tumor is located in his jaw, Mauricio hasn’t been able to eat properly in months as he has to ingest food with the help of a gastric probe, leaving him even more debilitated by not properly nourishing his body. The Hospital Social Security can’t keep up with the demands of the costly treatment, as well as the almost daily trips to the hospital. Furthermore, Mauricio needs a special kind of machine that can prepare food for the gastric probe, along with special packs of food that go into the machine. As his condition worsens, Mauricio’s family is also considering hiring a nurse or an aid to assist with his treatment and recovery. None of this is covered by Social Security, leaving Mauricio and his family in hard times with difficult choices.
On behalf of Rene Guerrero, brother of Mauricio, we, his family and loved ones, are soliciting monetary aid to help with the costs of fighting Mauricio’s cancer and show support to our dear friend and brother. Mauricio and his family would appreciate even the smallest contributions if they mean it would help him recover. We also ask everyone to please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and to maintain an optimistic attitude, as Mauricio undergoes this difficult time, because even he stills keeps his faith and classic vigor.

En Nombre de Rene Guerrero, Hermano de Edgardo Mauricio Guerrero, agradecemos a todas las personas que de una u otra forma han colaborado con esta noble causa para ayudar a Edgardo Mauricio Guerrero en su lucha contra el cancer de mandibula y seguimos de pie con esta campana; para poderle continuar ayudando en sus tratamientos de recuperacion de su condicion fisica, que sigue siendo bien fragil.
Nuestro querido hermano Mauricio, dedicó buena parte de su vida trabajando para la línea aérea TACA-AVIANCA por más de 30 años. Todo este tiempo lo realizó con mucha responsabilidad, profesionalismo y pasión, por lo que fue ascendiendo hasta ser promovido como Jefe de Vuelo en sus últimos 15 años laborales hasta que finalmente se retiró en este cargo a la edad de 59 años. Durante tantos vuelos él tuvo la oportunidad de disfrutar conociendo muchos lugares en tantos países y por su alegría, entusiasmo y gran corazón ha acumulado buenos amigos en todo el camino. Asimismo, su trabajo en TACA- AVIANCA fue el instrumento para sacar adelante a su familia.
Desafortunadamente el pasado mes de Junio/2017, Mauricio fue diagnosticado con un cáncer agresivo, nivel 3, llamado Carcinoma invasivo de células escamosas en su mandíbula. Desde Junio Mauricio comenzó su lucha contra esta terrible enfermedad y está siendo atendido en el Seguro Social de nuestro país El Salvador y desde entonces ha sido sometido a 23 terapias de radiación y muchas terapias intensivas de quimio. La condición física de nuestro hermano se ha visto muy afectada por todos estos tratamientos y actualmente está recibiendo una alimentación especial a través de una sonda gástrica, debido a la ubicación del tumor en su mandíbula no puedo hacerlo normalmente por boca. Actualmente el seguro médico no cubre la totalidad de medicamentos que tienen que ser administrados semanalmente; también se incurre en gastos por los viajes casi diarios al hospital. Asimismo, Mauricio necesita adquirir una máquina especial para su alimentación que no la facilita su seguro médico y a vez necesita comprar bolsas especiales para suministrar los alimentos. Por su condición médica actual se han visto en la necesidad de contratar a un enfermero para que lo asista en casa para administrarle la alimentación especial a través de la sonda gástrica y medicamentos.
Por esta desafortunada fase que esta atravesando nuestro hermano Mauricio y su familia; estamos solicitando su valiosa ayuda económica para aportar un granito de arena a la batalla y apoyar a nuestro hermano Edgardo Mauricio que está luchando día con día. Tanto Mauricio como la familia apreciaran mucho cualquier cantidad que puedas donar. Te pedimos también mantener presente a nuestro hermano Mauricio en tus oraciones para que conserve siempre su espíritu optimista e incrementar la fe en estos momentos de prueba.
