Friends and Family,

I come to you to ask for your help. Tragically, on October 2, 2017, Maurice Fullerton lost his life.

Who is Maurice Fullerton you ask?

Maurice Fullerton was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Mt. Airy. We became friends 24 years ago at Holy Cross School and have been like family ever since.

Maurice was a father to four beautiful boys. He worked hard to provide for his family- sometimes two or three jobs at a time. He never complained about hard work and rarely missed a day. He was so proud of each of his children and bragged about them to anyone who would listen.

Maurice lost the mother of his children, Kitty Carmichael, in 2015 in a tragic hit and run accident. He never thought twice about what he had to do to care for his boys during this awful time in their lives. He loved, supported, and comforted his children while continuing to hold down the household. He missed Kitty more than anything in this world, but forced a smile on his face and remained strong for his children.

If losing Kitty wasn't enough, Maurice stood by his eldest son Sincere as he recovered from an almost deadly bus accident earlier this year. He held his hand, and again, comforted his son as he endured a brutal recovery and rehabilitation. Sincere is still recovering from his critical injuries today.

Some people would have broken after these events, but not Maurice. He kept his head up knowing that his children depended on him. He offered words of support, not sorrow. He continued to work hard and support his family when anyone else would ask "Why me, Lord?" He was certain brighter days were ahead, and found joy in dreaming about the future.

October 2nd, 2017 would have been Kitty's 32nd birthday. October 2nd , 2017 is also the day Maurice passed away after visiting her gravesite.

Quite literally, Maurice died of a broken heart.

Again, I come to you to ask for your help. At 34 years old, Maurice understandably did not plan for his final expenses. And after a year of medical and recovery expenses, the family's resources are exhausted.

Four boys are now orphaned- both parents dying within two years of each other. The eldest Sincere is just 13 years old but already feels the responsibility of caring for his brothers. And he is happy to do it. But he needs our help.

Helping with final expenses will go a long way in lifting the burden on Maurice's family. Any amount will help, and the family humbly requests a donation in lieu of flowers.

Maurice Fullerton was one of the kindest, most loving people I know. He stood by his friends and family when they needed it most, and offered a friendly smile or joke despite his own personal tragedies.

Although he has left us, his legacy of kindness and love will live on in his children. I ask that you find it in your heart to show a bit of kindness and love to this family in his honor.

With love and gratitude,
Christina Mason on behalf of the Fullerton Family
