Aloha MSG Ohana,
We've been getting a tremendous outpouring of concern & love via social media and texts about the recent tragic Lahaina fires. I'm sad to report that seven of our MSG staff members lost their homes on 8/8/23. A majority of the businesses and structures on Front Street and the neighborhood from Puamana to Wahikuli Park have been leveled by this vicious fire.
If our beloved Maui Surfer Girls team members have touched your life in a special way in or out of the waves, please reach out to them on social media, or donate here.
Staff that have been tragically impacted are: Lance & Raye & their two lil groms Raiden & Rocco, Rachael Zimmerman & Nicole "Naks" Nakamura, both couples who lived at the same Lahaina condos next door to Lahaina Apartments that burned down. Lucy Woodward & Bailey who lived a block from Front Street near our beloved "SharkPit Beach" lost their home also. Maggie Venters & Lara Clayton have also lost their homes near Wahikuli Park.
All MSG staff have been accounted for & are safely evacuated. Lucy, our heroine EMT, has been working a 48 hour shift in Lahaina when the fires broke out. She will be coming off of a triage unit in Napili with possibly no home to return to after serving our community.
Please help us rebuild their lives with a small donation. I will be distributing the funds to each staff member in need.
UPDATE as of 8/31/23: All donations have been linked to the non-profit Mana O Maui, which will provide tax deductible receipts to campaign donors. Your generous donations will be distributed equally between staff who've lost their homes to restart their lives. The remainder of the funds will be used towards getting MSG staff working again, providing free surf clinics to victims of the fire in September.
Mahalo for your love support and prayers!
