Matty Strong!

Update from Patti: Thank you to everyone for your prayers and positive thoughts over the past week. I was hoping to update with better news by now but Matthew remains critically ill and is still on a ventilator with a severe case of ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) and pneumonia. Tests continue but have yet to uncover a specific reason for why this happened to Matthew or how to move forward other than giving his lungs time to heal. He received excellent care at the Elliot Hospital but was medflighted to Mass General Hospital in Boston Sunday evening where he is a patient in the Pediatric ICU. Things remain serious and in a constant state of flux which is unnerving and exhausting but we remain hopeful for his recovery. If you can, please continue praying for Matthew and the team of doctors, nurses and other providers who are working so hard to help him heal. Thank you

Today I’m posting with a heavy yet hopeful heart. I don’t share much of a personal nature on social media but today I’d like to ask for prayers for my son Matthew (the “firstborn” as he proudly refers to himself .

Matthew was very ill all last week at home with high fever, cough and difficulty breathing. He’s had multiple Covid tests (all negative), visit to his doctor’s office, a middle of the night ER visit, urgent care, an ambulance ride to the Elliot and then a speedy transfer to ICU where he currently lies in a bed letting a machine do the work for him in hopes that his lungs will heal from some type of aggressive, bilateral pneumonia and a collapsed lung. Despite many tests, the doctors are unsure what is causing this.

The doctors and staff are working diligently and with great care to help him heal. We are indebted to all of them. As a family, we are struggling to make sense of what has gripped our boy so tightly and praying for whatever it is to release its grasp. Please pray for him with us ❤️

Elliot has served us well, Matt was  med-flown to Mass General on Sunday night.  He is being taken care of by the medical staff in an induced coma and meds so his lungs can heal. 

Due to the medical expenses that will arise, travel expenses and daily nonsense toMassachusetts, I hope you are able to help my friend.
